Arise will be having a musical fundraiser at the First Church of Amherst on the 1st of April, featuring artists such as Lea Gilmore, Professor Louie of The Crowmatix, Peter Blood, and Annie Patterson.
A blues, gospel, and jazz singing civic activist, Lea Gilmore has advocated for many things from immigration laws to civil rights of women of color. Appointed by the U.S Commissions on Civil Rights and the Director of Network Coordination for the Moving Maryland Forward Network, Lea Gilmore is truly an astounding agent for socially just change.
Annie & Peter have played a central role in creating a quiet revolution of group singing in the U.S. in recent years. They have spent decades honing their skills as performers and song leaders in schools, churches, conferences, folk song clubs and festival across the U.S. and abroad. They used this song leading experience to create a unique song collection entitled Rise Up Singing: The Group Singing Songbook in 1988 and another songbook entitled Rise Again in 2015.

Sing Out for Climate Justice
Come join us for an evening of singing together in the name of Climate Justice at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Greater Springfield on the 8th of April
We sing to deliver a message of urgency and hope!
We sing to bring movement and faith groups together!
We sing to insure that justice is part of climate work—putting priority on those who are most impacted—low income and communities of color!
We sing because the arts bring creativity and hope to action!
This ‘Sing Out’ is not a concert but a chance for all of us to sing together and express our vision and feelings and determination. It will be led by experienced song-leaders, all voices and experience levels are welcome!

Climate Action Resiliency Plan
In a time where Climate Change and pollution are affecting our community tremendously with hotter summers, wetter winters, increased risks of violent storms, and threats to our public health, especially asthma rates on the rise, the City of Springfield has decided to take action.
The City of Springfield will develop a Climate Action and Resiliency Plan. This plan of action will better prepare and protect our neighborhoods from the effects of climate change, lay out steps to bring down pollution across our city, and ensure climate justice by making sure communities that have been most impacted by pollution and climate change benefit from the plan.
We encourage you to come out to learn more about the plan, and tell us what you think should be included in it to improve the environment in your neighborhood. We want to hear from you to make this the best plan of action it can be!
