The Community Resource Board of Arise meets monthly, and our general charge is to help with fundraising for Arise, but also add in other resources, such as student interns, and material and education aid. Some of our recent activities have included raising money for The Free School, a series of political education workshops for the Arise community. This summer's Free School was titled, "Why is the World the Way it is? Building  Community" focusing on topics such as neoliberalism, racism, our climate crisis and militarism and it was a tremendous success.

Arise and Dance for Climate Justice: A Benefit for Arise for Social Justice

In the tradition of fall, the Arise Community Resource Board is again sponsoring its annual fall fundraising event for Arise. This year we lost our dedicated Executive Director of more than 30 years, Michaelann Bewsee, who succumbed to cancer August 15, 2019. To honor her years of organizing low-income people to fight for their economic, social and environmental rights, this year we are focusing on raising funds for climate justice organizing with this fall’s benefit dance concert. We are fortunate to have noted bass guitar, drums and keyboard player Jo Sallins and his band. Playing with Jo will be Bassist/Vocalist Heshima Moja, Keyboardist Jordan Johnson, Saxophonist Ed Linehan, and Drummer Matt Penza. They will offer some exciting Jazz Standards, R & B Classics by Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, including some spicy Latin dance rhythms in the traditions of Salsa and Reggaeton!!!

Music by Jo Sallins, with guests Heshima Moya,  Jordan Johnson, Ed Linehan and Matt Penza
