Arise Family matters Committee
Family Matters is an Arise committee dedicated to improving the lives of individuals impacted by Department of Children and Families through advocacy, awareness, and community building.
The purpose of Family Matters is to provide an alternative source of support to families in the form of peer support, to provide information on DCF policies and assist via trouble-shooting difficult cases. Family Matters also provides education and support on life skills that will promote a proactive and successful family life. We connect families with resources and other services needed to successfully complete a DCF action plan. In addition, Family Matters seeks to work with DCF representatives in order to promote an empathetic environment when dealing with family issues and repair community relationships.
Advertise and organize a support group that will seek to empower and educate families involved with DCF. Will connect families with resources and/or other services needed to successfully complete their Action Plan. Inform families on expectations, case practice, and policies to further assist them in navigating the DCF and Court system. Provide technical and possibly legal assistance to families. Work as a community to bring about policy and legislative change that supports children and families. Organize the community at large in an effort to create systemic change through different strategic methods.
